This Week in Canadian EdTech MindShareTV with Robert Martellacci in conversation with Sarah Prevette, CEO, future design school on the release of their new report>> The Future of Education Report 2022

Dear Thought Leader,

As we prepare for a Family Day Weekend and enjoy a PD Day, or a snow day in many parts of Canada, I sense a great deal of hope and optimism in the air for what's in store for 2022 in Canadian education. Yes, I embrace the growth mindset! And, yes it's a skill that can be nurtured and modeled too!

Our featured podcast is not to be missed with one of Canada's most innovative minds in education, Sarah Prevette, Founder & CEO, Future Design School, on their release of the Future of Education 2022.

A  BIG week on the news front with a number of stories worth highlighting! Taking centre stage is Canada's very own Paper Learning, EdTech darling who won our MindShare Startup Challenge just 5 years ago and recently teamed up with us at FETC, where we co-hosted a CanAM event, announced a significant Series D round of financing to the tune of $343 Million. In total to date, Paper has raised almost half a billion dollars to democratize tutoring at the school district level throughout North America. Kudos to Phil Cutler, CEO, who we featured in last week's podcast for their early success in addressing the learning gaps during COVID in the U.S.

Canada needs to embrace their innovative tutoring and essay support services, especially given the learning gaps that are evident amongst K12 students.

More excellent news on the national front with CanCode funding finally announced from the Feds this past week to the tune of $80 million over the next two years with programs offered by some 19 providers launching this Spring. Schools across Canada will once again enjoy FREE STEM/Coding classes. These skills are essential for students to garner to prepare them for jobs of the future and to keep Canada at the forefront of innovation.

BCIT makes the headlines thanks to the Feds investment of $162.6M to upgrade their training facilities.

C21 Canada welcomes Peter Singh, Executive Officer, IT Services, TDSB as the incoming Chair, CIO Alliance, who is looking to Champion innovation learning best practices in K12 education across Canada.

I hope you enjoy this week's Top 10 curated news stories that really provide a national and international lens and pulse for some of the incredible innovation happening across our vast Canadian landscape and beyond.

Special thanks to you, our loyal readership, our team, board of advisors and valued partners, who enable us to share and stay connected with you on a weekly basis through our growing community.

We love hearing from you and truly appreciate the sharing of news, jobs and welcome your suggestions for MindShareTV podcast guests!  Please do inquire about our strategic marketing and pedagogical EdTech consulting services.

Until next time, stay healthy, stay safe and keep the learning curve steep!

“Hey, it’s the power of women in STEM,” I joked with the rest of the only girls in my physics class. We were the first to finish in a race to complete some trivial energy-related lab, and I gave a half-hearted fist pump to celebrate the occasion. But inside, I was proud because I felt an unmistakable synergy in our pursuit of science problem-solving, the feeling I love most about STEM.
