This Week in Canadian EdTech Unboxing Oplan, An Assistive K20 Classroom Management Technology Tool for Teachers and Students
Welcome to our monthly CanAm EdTech Report where we explore the latest in innovations and research in the K12 & Higher Education space.

As I digitally pen this month's CanAm EdTech Report letter, I'm inspired by the incredible weather, scenery and sounds of ocean waves as a result of my travels to Florida where we are exploring expansion opportunities for our MindShare Work & Learning space. I'm grateful for opportunities afforded by the powerful online tools we leverage for work & learning. It also gives me perspective on the reality that it's about using the right tool at the right time to help one achieve their goals.

Dr. Steve Joordens, UofT psychology professor predicted the threat of the  'Great Snapback,' where teachers revert back to the way it was pre-Covid. I'm more optimistic and believe teachers want what's best for the classroom by providing equitable tools for all students to succeed. I welcome you to lean into this conversation. Dr. Joordens, it's time we reconnect on a MindShareTV podcast and debate the issue!

In honour of Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrate the excellent work of our passionate teacher community members across Nort America and beyond. We value the daily contributions you make in the lives of students. The pandemic has been especially taxing on your mindsets, but please know>> You Matter! Stay the course as your students especially need you. Each of you contributes to and inspires our newsletters on a weekly basis. We can't thank you enough!

A couple of fun facts! Florida is the #1 trade partner to Canada for a lot of obvious reasons, tourism & real estate. Another growing sector is EdTech. Incidentally, Mindshare Learning was honoured to team up with the Canadian Consulate of Miami, Florida in developing an EdTech Industry Playbook to help nurture and promote innovation trade between regions. The final fun fact about Florida, coincidentally, the Toronto Maple Leafs happened to be playing the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 3 of the NHL playoffs. Being the passionate hockey player and coach that I am, we're planning to go to the game!

Speaking of teachers, today marks only 8 days to go! Canada's Schools of the Future [Student Innovation] Challenge. It's not too late to enter and WIN awesome tech prizes!

A few highlights in this week's issue:

1. Unboxing Edwin Classroom Learning Platform
2.Unboxing Oplan, an assistive time management tool for both K12 and Higher Ed students. It was a fascinating discussion with the founders on how students learn best and the inspiration behind their startup.
3. Timothy Gard, Chief Learning Officer, is back with a Matific Product Review.
3. New in this Issue 'CanAm Connections'
4. C21 Canada Spotlight 'Beyond a Crisis'
5. Mindshare is honoured to co-host the upcoming Class Webinar, The Future of Digital Learning: Creating Equitable Opportunities for All Students. To register for the May 17th Webinar, click here
6. MindShare Learning Sponsors Excellence in Equity Awards

In my travels earlier this week to Montreal, I attended the McGill University faculty of education board of advisors meeting. I also conducted a site inspection of their newly renovated state-of-the-art learning commons and classrooms, now officially the host partner of this year's 13th Canadian EdTech Leadership Summit-- Exploring the State of EdTech through Evidence-Based Research.

I hope you enjoy this month's expanded CanAm Edition of the MindShare Report.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me and share your comments, success stories, news, research, people on the move and events with us! We love hearing from you! Matific Product Review
By Tim Gard, Chief Learning Strategist
In this pandemic era, online learning platforms have increased. This is no real surprise. Where there’s a need, there’s a solution and with the advances that have developed in digital technologies creating online learning programs that are rich, adaptive, and pedagogically sound is a workable task. Albeit not an easy task! Then, how do you create a rich, adaptive, and pedagogically sound learning environment that is also engaging and adheres to current assessment theories and practices? Or, more simply, how do you create a digital learning portal that excites kids and gives teachers a tool that helps them teach new material, supports students struggling in a context that is easy to manage, and gives teachers actionable feedback? Read on to discover an online tool that offers many of these items and is affordable for students, classes, schools and districts.
