This Week in Canadian EdTech MindShareTV SaskEd Innovative Educator, Dean Vendramin, Past Winner of the Schools of the Future Contest Shares the Impact on his Teaching Practice

Dear Thought Leader,

Happy Victoria Day! Today marks the final day to enter the Canadian Schools of the Future [Student] Innovation Challenge.  Share an awesome authentic learning moment video captured with your students and qualify to WIN awesome EdTech Prizes for your school and classroom! We recognize the challenging year it's been for teachers and students and look forward to reviewing your awesome and innovative videos!

I'm elated to share with you our 300th Anniversary Top10 EdTech Weekly Report Issue! It's been an incredible journey with you as we've witnessed amazing innovation and transformation in education. We welcome your input on what you'd like to see next.

This past week I was honoured to be co-hosting the C21 CEO Academy Summit in partnership with Louis Riel School Division and Winnipeg School Division (since we were last in the Yukon pre-pandemic) along with education leaders from across Canada, where we explored indigenizing education through truth and reconciliation. It was an incredibly moving experience to deepen my knowledge of the history of indigenous communities and to embark on a journey of reconciliation and call to action. With some 1 million plus students represented at the Summit, it makes me hopeful for the potential of our not-for-profit to make a collective national impact on K12 education through our partner members. Checkout the highlights in this issue.

I hope you enjoy this week's Top 10 Canadian EdTech Report anniversary edition powered by MindShare Learning.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me and share your comments, success stories, news, research, and events with us! We love hearing from you! Feel free to call me directly at 416-569-2106, or drop me an email, if we can be of further support to your organization's innovation, or edtech growth plans through our strategic consulting services.

Thank you for the inspiration and kind feedback that motivates our team to provide you with mission critical research and insights to optimize your learning and technology strategy as we approach the end of the school year and critical planning for back to school.

Until next time, stay healthy & active and keep the digital learning curve steep!

P.S. Save the dates! October 19- 20. MindShare to host the 13th Canadian EdTech Leadership Summit in partnership with McGill University in Montreal. Stay tuned for more details!

C21 Spotlight
School reconciliation experiences shared at education conference

Winnipeg Free Press May 21, 2022
Superintendents from across the country — who, combined, represent more than one million K-12 students — capped off a two-day C21 Canada CEO Academy event with a panel discussion at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on Thursday.

Roughly two dozen school board leaders listened to local educators and prominent Winnipeggers share perspectives on implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action.

“Teachers who take the time out of their day to get to know the person, to get to know the students, are the real ones who are making steps to reconciliation,” said panellist Jody Lynn Ross, a student in the Winnipeg School Division’s Indigenous teacher development program, Build From Within.

Behind the Product Scene: Shape Up
Truly impactful products will always be a reflection of team dynamics — built on their shared beliefs and ambitions. While it’s the guiding principle for our front-facing brand, the conviction that "Relationships are everything" has also suffused our work process. As a result, we’ve put a lot of intention and resources into the practices and tools that fuel collaborations within (and between) our teams.

Reimagining Digital Learning for Sustainable Development is a comprehensive playbook for education leaders, policy makers, and other key stakeholders leading the modernization of learning and development in their institutions as they build a high value knowledge economy and prepare learners for jobs that don't yet exist.

Currently, nearly every aspect of human activity, including the ways we absorb and apply learning, is influenced by disruptive digital technologies. The jobs available today are no longer predicators of future employment, and current and future workforce members will need to augment their competencies through a lifetime of continuous upskilling and reskilling to meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

I’m proud to be the co-founder of two trailblazing edtech startups. As you might expect, I’m even prouder to be the father of three children. They are the reason I co-founded Class – when I saw the challenges they were having during the pandemic engaging with their classes online on Zoom, it inspired me to push technology forward to unlock the full potential of live learning online for everyone.

But that wasn’t my first foray into the world of online education. Back in 1997, I co-founded a company called Blackboard, which brought to market one of the first commercially available enterprise learning management systems (LMS).
